Macao Science Center covers an area of 62,000 square metres. The main structure consists of an inclined cone, a hemisphere, and a diamond‑shaped base. These three parts function as the exhibition hall, planetarium, and convention centre respectively. The exterior walls are finished with silver‑grey aluminium panels, complemented by dark granite. Viewed from a distance, the building exudes a strong scientific aura, embodying the geometric architectural style favoured by I.M. Pei.

Exhibition Centre

The 14 exhibition halls inside the Exhibition Centre, together with the atrium, cover a total area of approximately 5,800 square metres. The 12 permanent exhibition halls feature themes including Space Science, Children's Paradise, Children's Science, Science Express, Robotics, Acoustics, Earth, Genetics, Environmental Protection, Sports & Health, Sports Competition, and Food Science. The remaining two halls are dedicated to regularly changing thematic exhibitions. The exhibits are primarily interactive, focusing on knowledge, science, and fun, allowing visitors to enjoy the thrill of exploring science through hands‑on experience.

Planetarium

At the centre of the Planetarium lies an inclined hemispherical screen approximately 15 metres in diameter, equipped with a set of high‑resolution 3D digital projectors and 127 seats with interactive control buttons. When visitors put on special glasses, they can view 3D images projected onto the giant domed screen. The Planetarium's vast database and projection effects allow visitors to freely travel through the universe and among the stars. This equipment can also screen digitised dome films, making the Planetarium a multifunctional dome theatre.
