Tromba Rija was founded in 1966, with its flagship restaurant located in a small town in Portugal called Leiria. The founders were the parents of Elisabête Real, who is now the helm of the restaurant. The restaurant was originally an ordinary grocery store in a small village, mainly selling wine and fresh meat. As refrigerators were not commonly used at the time, any meat that could not be sold within a day would spoil. One day, Elisabête's mother used the leftover pork and beans to make a home‑style dish called Feijoada, which received overwhelming praise from the customers. Before long, customers from near and far came flocking to taste this dish. Tromba Rija gradually evolved from an ordinary grocery store into a full‑fledged restaurant, run by Elisabête and Fernando Real, and has developed into the internationally renowned dining establishment it is today.

Tromba Rija opened its Asian branch at the Macau Tower on 22 December 2014. The Chinese name is inspired by the surname of the founding family, Real (which means "Royal" in Portuguese).
The design of "Royal Grapes & Wine" follows the traditional style of the flagship restaurant in warmly entertaining friends and family, allowing guests to experience a festive atmosphere amidst a room full of delicacies. From the layout and lighting to the décor, the restaurant adopts a rustic family dining theme, with every detail creating a warm, harmonious, simple and unpretentious ambience, complemented by a touch of modern elements, offering customers a distinctive Portuguese dining experience.

The restaurant features private dining rooms, indoor and outdoor seating, providing over 150 seats. It is truly an ideal dining destination for families, friends celebrating festivals or gatherings, and those who appreciate the finer things in life.
