‑ Wuzhen ‑
The waters of Wuzhen flow quietly, just like a gentle yet resilient Jiangnan woman. With such a spirit, who could not fall for her?
As night falls, the timed floodlights gradually light up, outlining the entire Xizha in crystal‑clear brilliance. Under ancient trees, within bridge arches, along the stone pillars of waterside pavilions, and on the steps of river docks, warm and cool lights in dots, blocks, and lines interweave and shine in harmony.
Taking a boat ride may be the most enjoyable way to tour Xizha at night. The most concentrated nighttime light displays are along Xishi River. Gliding along the river, the boat seems to float through a river of lanterns, with lights reflecting on the water and oars gently stirring, as if breaking a pool of scattered silver.
Passing through stone bridges feels like travelling through time tunnels. If you wish, you can stop the boat to read the inscribed couplets on the bridges, each rich with meaning.
