Winter in Japan's Tohoku region is a romantic fairytale exclusive to the season! Set off from Tokyo on a two‑day, one‑night curated journey, checking off three must‑visit scenic wonders in one go: the Taisho Romanesque Ginzan Onsen, the snow monsters (juhyo) of Zao, and the adorable snow‑covered Fox Village. Stay at an onsen hotel throughout and immerse yourself in the winter charm of Tohoku, where white snow meets soothing hot springs — no planning needed, just relax and explore the classic sights of Yamagata and Miyagi.

The first stop of the trip is Ginzan Onsen, a hot spring town with over 500 years of history. Nestled along the banks of the Ginzan River in Obanazawa, Yamagata Prefecture, the street is lined with rustic wooden buildings from the Taisho to early Showa periods. In winter, snow blankets the rooftops and riverside, and as evening falls, the gas lamps along the street slowly light up, casting warm amber light over the snow and rising onsen steam. The nostalgic, serene atmosphere is palpable — every snap looks like a scene from a classic Japanese film, offering a truly healing hot spring experience.

Next, uncover the winter‑only wonder of Tohoku — the Zao Juhyo (snow monsters). The best viewing period is from January to February, when Siberian cold air masses create a mountain full of uniquely shaped "snow monster" trees, both spectacular and dreamlike. Take the Zao Ropeway up for a panoramic view of the endless silver juhyo field. When the night illumination event kicks in, the lights against the ice and snow conjure a magical, breathtaking winter realm — a true visual spectacle.

The trip also features the healing attraction of Miyagi Zao Fox Village, where over a hundred foxes of different breeds play freely. With snow blanketing the grounds in winter, the lively foxes run and roll around in the snow — an adorable scene perfect for photo ops. Get up close to the charming wild foxes and soak up moments of pure healing.

Throughout the journey, we've handpicked onsen hotels for your stay. After a day of fun, soak in a traditional Japanese hot spring to wash away the fatigue and enjoy the warmth of the baths amid the cold winter — a truly authentic Japanese stay experience. The itinerary also thoughtfully covers winter travel essentials, reminding everyone to prepare for the cold and wind, with slip‑proof gear, warm clothing, snow boots, and heat packs on hand to easily cope with Tohoku's low temperatures.

Limited winter scenery waits for no one! This two‑day, one‑night curated trip brings together hot springs, snowscapes, and adorable animals in one go, unlocking the most healing winter side of Tohoku. Book your exclusive winter romance now!
