Majestic West LakeWest Lake is one of China's first national key scenic areas and a World Cultural Heritage site. Covering approximately 6.38 square kilometres of water and surrounded by hills on three sides, it is renowned for its "one hill, two causeways, three islets, and ten scenic views", including classic sights such as Su Causeway in Spring Dawn and Melting Snow at Broken Bridge. The Bai and Su Causeways divide the lake's surface, while Leifeng Pagoda and Baochu Pagoda stand facing each other across the water. The scenery changes with each season: misty willows and picturesque bridges in spring, lotus breezes at Quyuan in summer, osmanthus‑scented rain over Manjuelong in autumn, and snow‑dusted calm at the lake's centre in winter. Poets including Bai Juyi and Su Shi have left over a thousand verses here over the centuries, while Lin Bu's tale of "plum blossom as wife and crane as son" adds a touch of reclusive romance. As a quintessential example of Jiangnan gardens and urban lakes, West Lake embodies the perfect fusion of natural landscapes and cultural heritage, earning it the title of "Paradise on Earth".

Leifeng PagodaLeifeng Pagoda is situated on the southern shore of West Lake. First built in 977 AD during the Northern Song Dynasty by King Qian Chu of Wuyue, it was originally named the Imperial Concubine Pagoda. The old pagoda collapsed in 1924 and was rebuilt in 2002 as a 71‑metre bronze pagoda modelled on Tang and Song Dynasty styles. As the first polychrome bronze‑carved pagoda in China, it combines steel truss construction with traditional craftsmanship while protecting the original site. Famous for its association with the legend of the White Snake, it is the centrepiece of the West Lake scenic view "Leifeng Pagoda in Evening Glow" and stands as a cultural landmark of Hangzhou.

Lingyin TempleLingyin Temple, also known as Yunlin Temple, is located northwest of West Lake in Hangzhou, Zhejiang. Founded in 326 AD (the first year of the Xianhe era of the Eastern Jin Dynasty) by Hui Li, an Indian monk from the Western Regions, it was initially named Lingyin and later given the imperial name "Yunlin Chan Temple" by Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty. As one of the ten great ancient monasteries of Chinese Zen Buddhism, its Heavenly King Hall and Grand Buddha Hall are arranged along the central axis. The temple preserves cultural relics including stone pagodas and dharani pillars, covering approximately 87,000 square metres. It is a cultural landmark of West Lake and a sacred site of Buddhism.

Chenghuang PavilionChenghuang Pavilion stands atop Wushan Hill, offering a 360‑degree panoramic view of Hangzhou: West Lake's shimmering waters to the west, the bustling city to the north, the Qiantang River tide to the east, and rolling hills to the south. With a broader vista than Baoshi Hill, it has been hailed as a "three‑dimensional presentation of Jiangnan landscape painting". The fourth‑floor observation deck, in particular, is a classic spot for photography enthusiasts to capture Hangzhou's "river, mountain, lake and city" beauty. When night falls and the lights come on, the pavilion glows in golden splendour, complementing the West Lake nightscape and earning its place among Hangzhou's "Top Ten Night Scenes".

Xixi National Wetland ParkXixi Wetland, located in western Hangzhou, covers a total area of 11.7 square kilometres and is China's first national wetland park integrating urban, agricultural and cultural wetland landscapes.Famed for its "meandering streams wrapped in mist", it is known together with West Lake and Xiling as the "Three Xis of Hangzhou", featuring three causeways and ten scenic views, including Green Causeway and Hezhu Street. In 2012, it was designated a National AAAAA‑Level Tourist Attraction, serving as an exemplary model of wetland ecology and Jiangnan water‑town culture.

Hangzhou SongchengHangzhou Songcheng, located southwest of the West Lake Scenic Area and completed in 1994, is China's first Song Dynasty cultural theme park. Built in the style of the painting "Along the River During the Qingming Festival", the park recreates the urban atmosphere of the Song Dynasty with its upturned eaves, grand archways and bustling streets. Centred on the grand spectacle "Songcheng Romance of the Song Dynasty", it also features live performances such as "Earthquake" and traditional experiential activities, receiving over ten million visitors annually. Known as one of the "World's Three Great Shows", it was rated a National AAAA‑Level Scenic Area in 2000 and serves as a cultural tourism icon of Hangzhou.▲Panoramic map of Songcheng — Punk Street, Songcheng Gate, Sky Tree, Time Tree, Love Tree, Cloud Ladder Walk and Performance Plaza offer a new view at every step, transporting you through time; revel in the Forest Theatre or feel the wind at the Cliff Theatre. Drift along the Song River as if travelling through a painting, experiencing the rich charm of Jiangnan.Vendors dressed in Song Dynasty attire run traditional workshops including a blacksmith's forge, oil press, winery, Doctor Zhao's healing house and boatyard. These workshops also offer hands‑on experiences of intangible cultural heritage such as shadow puppetry, blacksmithing, oil pressing, rice cake making, movable‑type printing and paper cutting.

Hangzhou Museum

Hangzhou Museum is located to the south of West Lake, a World Cultural Heritage site, adjacent to the Hefang Street historical and cultural district. It is a comprehensive humanities museum showcasing the historical evolution and cultural relics of Hangzhou. The collection comprises over ten thousand items, covering ceramics, calligraphy and paintings, jade, seals, coins, stamps and other categories of artefacts. The South Wing of the museum houses a permanent exhibition on Hangzhou's history themed "Always Remembering Hangzhou", presenting a narrative display of the city's historical development, cultural legacy and humanistic spirit. The North Wing focuses on the museum's collection under the theme "Treasured Hangzhou", featuring themed exhibitions of refined artefacts unearthed in Hangzhou over the years, immovable cultural heritage sites, fine calligraphy and paintings, and exquisite scholarly treasures from the collection.

Grand Canal (Beijing–Hangzhou)The Hangzhou section of the Grand Canal bears witness to a thousand years of grain transport culture and is inscribed as a World Cultural Heritage site. Here you will find both quaint historic districts and modern, artistic leisure spots — perfect for slowing down and experiencing the blend of history and the present. Whether you are a culture enthusiast, a photography lover or a family with children, you are sure to find your own poetic moments here!

Wulin Night MarketWulin Night Market is located in the bustling Grand Wulin Commercial Area, adjacent to West Lake. Stretching approximately 300 metres, it is one of Hangzhou's most vibrant and atmospheric night markets. Here, you will find exquisite handcrafted trendy items and intangible cultural heritage, as well as a one‑stop feast of cuisines from across the country. With live‑streaming influencers broadcasting on‑site, it has become a trendy, fashionable hotspot for both locals and visitors alike.
