The Magnificent West LakeWest Lake is one of China's first national key scenic areas and a World Cultural Heritage site. Covering a water area of approximately 6.38 square kilometres and surrounded by mountains on three sides, it is renowned for its "one mountain, two causeways, three islands and ten scenic views", including classic sights such as Su Causeway in Spring Dawn and Melting Snow at Broken Bridge. The Bai Causeway and Su Causeway divide the lake's waters, while Leifeng Pagoda and Baochu Pagoda stand facing each other across the lake. The scenery varies with the four seasons: misty willows and painted bridges in spring, lotus breezes and wine in summer, osmanthus rain in autumn, and snow‑clad vistas in winter. Poets such as Bai Juyi and Su Shi have left over a thousand poems about the lake, while Lin Bu's tale of "plum blossom as wife and crane as son" adds a touch of hermit charm. As a quintessential example of Jiangnan gardens and urban lakes, West Lake exemplifies the perfect fusion of natural landscape and cultural heritage, earning it the reputation of "Paradise on Earth".

Leifeng PagodaLeifeng Pagoda, located on the south bank of West Lake, was first built in 977 AD during the Northern Song Dynasty by Qian Chu, King of Wuyue, and was originally named the Imperial Concubine Pagoda. The old pagoda collapsed in 1924, and was rebuilt in 2002 as a 71‑metre‑high bronze pagoda modelled after Tang and Song dynasty styles — the first colourfully carved bronze pagoda, combining steel truss structures with traditional craftsmanship while preserving the original pagoda ruins. Famous for its association with the legend of the White Snake, it is the centrepiece of the West Lake scenic view "Leifeng Pagoda in Evening Glow" and stands as a cultural landmark of Hangzhou.

Lingyin TempleLingyin Temple, also known as Yunlin Temple, is located to the northwest of West Lake in Hangzhou, Zhejiang. It was first established in the first year of the Xianhe era of the Eastern Jin Dynasty (326 AD) by the Western Indian monk Huili, and was originally named Lingyin. During the Qing Dynasty, Emperor Kangxi bestowed upon it the name "Yunlin Chan Temple". As one of the ten great ancient temples of Chinese Zen Buddhism, the temple features buildings such as the Heavenly Kings Hall and the Great Hall of Sakyamuni arranged along the central axis. Existing cultural relics include stone pagodas and sutra pillars. Covering an area of approximately 87,000 square metres, it is a cultural landmark of West Lake and a sacred Buddhist site.

Chenghuang PavilionChenghuang Pavilion stands atop Wushan Hill, offering a 360‑degree panoramic view of Hangzhou: West Lake's shimmering waters to the west, the bustling city to the north, the Qiantang River tides to the east, and rolling mountains to the south. With a broader vantage point than Baoshi Hill, it is hailed as a "three‑dimensional rendering of Jiangnan landscape paintings". The fourth‑floor observation deck, in particular, is a classic spot for photography enthusiasts to capture the beauty of Hangzhou's "river, mountain, lake and city". When night falls and the lights come on, the pavilion shines in resplendent golden glory, complementing the West Lake night scenery, and has been selected as one of the "Top Ten Night Views of Hangzhou".

Xixi National Wetland ParkXixi Wetland, located in the western part of Hangzhou, covers a total area of 11.7 square kilometres and is China's first national wetland park that integrates urban, agricultural and cultural wetlands.Famous for its "winding streams veiled in mist", it is known together with West Lake and Xiling as the "Three Xi of Hangzhou", featuring three causeways and ten scenic views, including Green Causeway and Hezhu Street. In 2012, it was rated a National AAAAA Tourist Attraction and serves as a model of wetland ecology and Jiangnan water‑town culture.

Hangzhou SongchengHangzhou Songcheng, located to the southwest of the West Lake Scenic Area, was completed in 1994 and is China's first Song Dynasty culture‑themed park. The scenic area is modelled after the painting "Along the River During the Qingming Festival", recreating the urban landscape of the Song Dynasty with its bracket‑arch architecture and bustling market scenes. Centred around the grand song‑and‑dance performance "Eternal Love of Songcheng", it also features live‑action shows such as "Earthquake" and traditional experience activities, attracting over ten million visitors annually and earning recognition as one of the "World's Three Great Shows". In 2000, it was rated a National AAAA Scenic Area and serves as a cultural tourism icon of Hangzhou.▲Panoramic map of Songcheng — Punk Street, Songcheng Gate, Sky Tree, Time Tree, Acacia Tree, Cloud Ladder Walk, and Performance Square offer scenic views at every step, transporting you through time and space; revel in the Forest Theatre and listen to the wind at the Cliff Theatre. Drifting along the Song River, you feel as though you are travelling within a painting, experiencing the rich charm of Jiangnan.Vendors dressed in Song Dynasty attire run traditional workshops such as blacksmithing, oil‑pressing, winemaking, the Zhao Taicheng medicine house, and boat‑building. These workshops also offer hands‑on experiences of traditional intangible cultural heritage, including shadow puppetry, blacksmithing, oil‑pressing, rice cake making, movable‑type printing, and paper‑cutting.

Hangzhou MuseumHangzhou Museum, located on the south side of the World Heritage West Lake and adjacent to the Hefang Street historical and cultural district, is a comprehensive humanities museum showcasing the historical evolution of Hangzhou and its treasured cultural relics. Its collection comprises over ten thousand items, covering ceramics, calligraphy and paintings, jade, seals, coins, stamps and various other artefacts. The South Building of the museum houses a comprehensive exhibition on Hangzhou's history, themed "Most Memorable is Hangzhou", offering a narrative display that systematically presents the city's historical development, cultural heritage and humanistic spirit. The North Building focuses on the museum's collection, themed "Treasured Hangzhou", featuring special exhibitions of outstanding artefacts unearthed in Hangzhou over the years, immovable cultural relics, fine calligraphy and paintings, and exquisite scholarly treasures from the collection.

Beijing‑Hangzhou Grand CanalThe Beijing‑Hangzhou Grand Canal (Hangzhou section) bears witness to a thousand years of canal transport culture and has been inscribed as a World Cultural Heritage site. Here, you will find both quaint historic districts and modern artistic leisure spaces, making it an ideal place to slow down and experience the fusion of history and the present. Whether you are a culture enthusiast, a photography lover, or a family with children, you will find your own poetic moments here!

Wulin Night MarketWulin Night Market is located in the bustling Grand Wulin Business District, adjacent to West Lake, and stretches approximately 300 metres in length. It is one of Hangzhou's most vibrant and atmospheric night markets. Here, you will find exquisite handcrafted trendy items and intangible cultural heritage displays, as well as a one‑stop culinary experience featuring delicacies from all over. With live‑streaming influencers broadcasting on site, it has become a hub for novelty, trend and fashion in Hangzhou, as well as a popular check‑in spot for both locals and tourists.
