Hangzhou Yue Wang Temple Scenic Area Ticket

Yue Fei Temple is located at the northwest corner of West Lake, opposite Quyuan Fenghe (Lotus Breeze in the Winding Courtyard). It is a site dedicated to the memory of the national hero Yue Fei. The tombs of Yue Fei and his son, along with the kneeling iron statues of the four traitors including Qin Hui, who have been kneeling before the tomb for a thousand years, stir the hearts of visitors. In addition, the exhibition hall displays historical materials about Yue Fei's life, allowing visitors to learn about the general's life of "loyalty and devotion to the country."

Entering the main gate of the Yue Fei Temple scenic area, one finds a square courtyard. Straight ahead is the main building of the temple, the Loyalty Shrine. The main hall is dedicated to Yue Fei, with a plaque above the door bearing the four characters "Xin Zhao Tian Ri" (My Heart Shines Like the Sun), which is very solemn. Stepping into the main hall, one is greeted by a full‑length statue of Yue Fei in military attire, with his oath "Return My Rivers and Mountains" hanging high above his head. The murals on the walls around the hall depict Yue Fei's life, among which the classic story of "Yue Fei's Mother Tattooing Words on His Back" is widely known. On either side of the main hall are statues of Yue Fei's two great generals, Niu Gao and Zhang Xian.

After visiting the main hall, return to the courtyard, head west through the stele corridor, cross the Jingzhong Bridge, and you will arrive at the cemetery area. Here lie the tombs of Yue Fei and his son Yue Yun, one large and one small. Opposite Yue Fei's tomb is an archway, flanked by two pairs of iron‑cast kneeling statues of traitors. They kneel facing Yue Fei's tomb, begging for his forgiveness. On the left are Qin Hui and his wife, Lady Wang. In the past, besides paying homage to the national hero, an important task for visitors was to spit on these two pairs of kneeling statues. Nowadays, spitting is no longer permitted, and a sign on the wall nearby reads, "Civilised Visit, Please Do Not Spit."

The entire Yue Fei Temple is not large, but it is surrounded by towering ancient trees. It is not far from the cemetery area back to the main gate of the temple. The entire visit takes about an hour.
