Tour Introduction
The most spectacular fireworks celebration in Kanto this autumn has arrived as scheduled! In 2026, the Tsuchiura National Fireworks Competition celebrates its glorious 95th edition. This grand event, which began in 1925, is on par with the Omagari All Japan Fireworks Competition and is one of Japan's top fireworks displays. Originally held to commemorate fallen air force personnel and to revitalise the local economy devastated by the Great Kanto Earthquake, it has been deeply rooted in the community with nationwide participation for a century, becoming the most iconic autumn tradition of Tsuchiura City.

Unlike ordinary fireworks displays, Tsuchiura fireworks are renowned throughout Japan for their unique starburst fireworks, earning the reputation of "Japan's Best Starburst Fireworks Show". In 1959, the "Rapid Fire Continuous Launch" competition category was officially established, and in 1982 it was renamed to the classic starburst category. For decades, Japan's top fireworks technicians have competed on this stage, defending the glory of their craft. With up to 25,000 fireworks lighting up the night sky each year and hundreds bursting in rapid succession, the exquisite timing and layered variations illuminate the crisp autumn night. The flowing light and shadow are stunning and breathtaking ‑ a quintessential Japanese romance that countless people must witness at least once in their lifetime.

This two‑day trip is not just about the spectacular fireworks! During the day, step into the once‑thriving Sawara district, an old town that prospered by the water with the historical reputation of being "better than Edo". Strolling along the Ono River and Katori Road, the well‑preserved Edo‑era streetscapes retain their full charm, and the quaint alleys hide the most authentic old Kanto scenery ‑ a leisurely walk to enjoy the serenity of time.

For a ceremonial culinary experience on your journey, entrust Kikuya, a century‑old establishment in Narita. Located at the foot of the temple gate at Shinsho‑ji Temple, this century‑old shop carries on the culinary heritage of the temple precincts, perfect for curing travel fatigue. The signature eel rice, made with carefully selected ingredients, features tender meat and rich savoury sauce ‑ a taste of traditional Japanese craftsmanship in every bite.

The package includes accommodation, a fine lunch, and a takeaway meal box, along with a premium Section A viewing seat ‑ no jostling for space, just sit back comfortably and enjoy the full display of starburst fireworks. A century of fireworks, a page of Edo‑era old town, and a century‑old eel fragrance ‑ all the beauty of Kanto autumn is gathered here, unlocking a healing yet magnificent in‑depth Japanese journey!
