Want to experience the stunning autumn foliage of the Tohoku region in person? No need to gather a full group! The 2026 Aomori Autumn Foliage One‑Day Tour is now open for booking – departure is guaranteed with just 1 participant, making it perfect for solo travellers, couples, or friends. Take advantage of the early bird discount to reserve your seat during the prime maple‑viewing season and cover Aomori's three classic hidden maple‑viewing spots in one go.

The first stop takes you into the hidden gem of Oirase Stream, located in the Towada‑Hachimantai National Park, designated as a national scenic spot and natural monument. A 14‑kilometre trail unfolds alongside the stream, with dozens of waterfalls cascading down the mountain slopes. When autumn arrives, the layered forests are painted in shades of crimson, golden yellow and orange‑brown, with colourful leaves surrounding the crystal‑clear water. Strolling along the trail feels like stepping into a vibrant autumn palette – every shot captures spectacular foliage scenery, making it an unmissable maple‑viewing destination in Aomori.

Next, head to Lake Towada, a double caldera lake formed by volcanic activity around 20 million years ago, spanning across Aomori and Akita prefectures. The emerald‑green lake is tranquil and deep, and in autumn, the surrounding maple‑clad mountains are reflected on the water's surface, creating a dreamlike scene where sky and lake merge into one. Climb the observatory to take in the panoramic lake and mountain views, experience the unique mystique of this volcanic lake, and immerse yourself in Tohoku's distinct natural scenery.

The final stop is Hirosaki Park, home to the renowned Hirosaki Castle, which retains its original keep and is designated as an Important Cultural Property. While it is widely known as a famous cherry‑blossom viewing spot, its autumn charm is equally breathtaking. The historic castle tower framed by autumn leaves, with red‑leaf tunnels stretching out, and the classic composition of bridges, castle keep, maple foliage and blue skies, creates a scene of remarkable depth as historic architecture and brilliant autumn colours complement each other.

The bus will stop at the Tsugaru Neputa Village car park, where you may choose to visit at your own expense (entrance fee not included). This venue recreates the Hirosaki Neputa Festival, one of the three major festivals in the Tohoku region. You can admire giant neputa lanterns, enjoy live Tsugaru shamisen performances, learn about local traditional folk customs, and shop for distinctive handicraft souvenirs.

No need to plan your own transport or worry about transfers – a private vehicle will take you to all three scenic spots. Early bird discounts are available for a limited time. Seats for the 2026 Aomori autumn foliage peak season are in high demand, so secure your booking now and embark on your dream Tohoku maple‑viewing journey!
