● Buddhist Sacred Site — Datong Mountain Zen Forest: Located about 4 km west of the county town, Datong Mountain Zen Forest Scenic Area is a renowned Buddhist Zen forest in Lingnan and one of the top ten scenic spots in Yangjiang. Jingye Temple sits at the northeastern foothill of Datong Mountain, a branch of Luofu Buddhist tradition. With a long history, it has always enjoyed flourishing incense and produced many renowned monks. In the late Jiaqing reign of the Qing Dynasty, Dai Xilun, the prefect of Gaozhou, passed by Datong Mountain on his way home after leaving office. Captivated by the scenery of the Zen forest, he shaved his head and became a monk, taking the Dharma name Daqian, and later became a great master of Jingye Temple.
