Highlight of the Trip
Enjoy a 90‑minute cruise on Lake Wakatipu aboard the historic TSS Earnslaw (1912) or the modern Queenstown Spirit.
Admire surrounding landmarks such as The Remarkables, Walter Peak and Cecil Peak.
Combine the cruise with a visit to the Walter Peak High Country Farm, featuring a guided farm tour, horse riding, garden‑to‑table experience, and delicious barbecue lunch or dinner.

Departing from Queenstown, hop aboard your preferred cruise vessel and sail across the deep blue waves of Lake Wakatipu for a dual feast of lake views and pastoral charm. The Walter Peak High Country Farm and Lake Queenstown cruise perfectly combine the grandeur of the lake and mountains with the laid‑back ambience of a high‑country farm, allowing you to immerse yourself in the unique allure of New Zealand's South Island with ease and delight, leaving behind unforgettable travel memories.

You can freely choose between two distinct cruising experiences, each with its own charm. Board the iconic TSS Earnslaw steamship — the only operational coal‑fired steamer in the Southern Hemisphere — and travel back in time amidst the chiming whistle and rising steam, enjoying panoramic views of the surrounding majestic peaks and crystal‑clear lake waters, soaking in the vintage romance of a century‑old voyage. Alternatively, opt for the modern and comfortable Queenstown Spirit, where you can take in the full panorama of Queenstown and its stunning lake‑mountain scenery during a smooth cruise, enjoying the convenience and comfort of a contemporary vessel.

Arriving at Walter Peak High Country Farm, you step into a hidden paradise. Here, lush green pastures stretch out, with cattle and sheep grazing leisurely, highland cows strolling in the lakeside paddocks, and the gentle animals harmonising beautifully with the lake and mountain scenery. You can join a guided "garden‑to‑table" experience, stroll through the lakeside gardens to learn about native and exotic plants, or ride a horse around the peninsula for unobstructed views of the surrounding snowy peaks and lake waters, immersing yourself fully in the vastness of the high‑country farm.

Beyond the activities, don't miss the delicious food. At the Homestead Restaurant or the Lakeside BBQ Restaurant, savour a barbecue feast made with seasonal local ingredients — freshly smoked meats paired with a variety of desserts — all while enjoying the breathtaking lake and mountain views. You can also watch a captivating traditional farm show, where farmers demonstrate the time‑honoured skill of sheep shearing, marvel at the intelligence and strength of the sheepdogs, and experience New Zealand's rural cultural heritage through interactive engagement.

Where lake light meets pastoral shadows, a serene charm seeps into the soul. The Walter Peak High Country Farm experience and Lake Queenstown cruise combine the comfort of a lake cruise with the excitement of a farm adventure, enhanced by delicious food and cultural highlights. Spanning over 600 metres in journey, every step holds a surprise, every moment brings healing — making it an unmissable classic experience during your Queenstown visit.
