Once all travellers have gathered, we will set off for the volcanic area of the Reykjanes Peninsula. (Kleifarvatn Lake may not be included on every tour. If the volcano hike takes longer than expected, this stop may be skipped.) Kleifarvatn Lake is the largest lake on the Reykjanes Peninsula, surrounded by mountains formed by volcanic eruptions beneath the ice.

The lake is adorned with black basalt sand beaches and otherworldly rock formations sculpted by weather erosion. Due to earthquakes and tectonic movements, underwater hot springs have formed in Kleifarvatn Lake, with hot water constantly bubbling up, creating a unique landscape. After two years of calm, the Reykjanes volcano finally erupted in July 2023; a series of earthquakes heralded the arrival of a new eruption.

On 10 July, the Litli Hrutur fissure, located north of the Meradalir eruption site, erupted once again. It takes about 2 hours to hike to the best viewpoint. The daily route may vary depending on wind and weather conditions. The path has a few short steep sections but is generally flat.

The guide will ensure this adventure is both fun and safe; all routes and activities comply with safety requirements and will be adjusted based on recommendations from the on‑site safety authorities. As you travel through the southern part of the Reykjanes Peninsula, you will enjoy beautiful scenery where the dense lava fields meet the Atlantic Ocean, until you reach the fishing village of Grindavík.

Grindavík is one of Iceland's main fishing ports. Fishing is the economic backbone of the village, making it the best place to gain an in‑depth understanding of Iceland's fishing culture. The approximately 3,300 residents rely mainly on fishing and related industries, producing about half of Iceland's salt‑cured fish products. The Blue Lagoon (Bláa Lónið in Icelandic) is a geothermal spa resort located on the Reykjanes Peninsula.

Since its opening in 1976, the Blue Lagoon has been hailed as one of the modern wonders of the world and is extremely popular. Your "Comfort Ticket" includes a towel, a free drink at the pool bar, and a silica mud mask. You can enjoy up to 2 hours of leisure time at the Blue Lagoon, allowing your mind and body to relax and be revitalised. Then we will return to Reykjavík to conclude this tour.
