Today we will take you to Takachiho and Aso Volcano, with a total of 4–5 attractions/experiences: from the Takachiho Gorge boat ride, Takachiho little train, Kusasenri grassland, Aso crater, to the special itinerary of Kamishikimi Kumanoimasu Shrine. A rich itinerary begins now.

Take a traditional wooden boat and drift downstream to experience the tranquillity and grandeur of the gorge. During the ride, you can admire the unique rock formations and lush forests on both sides of the gorge up close.

For the beautiful Takachiho Gorge, it is recommended to shoot near Manai Falls, using a slow shutter speed to capture the silky texture of the water, or walk along the gorge trail to capture the dappled light and shadows filtering through the leaves.

The basalt columns of Takachiho Gorge are highly distinctive, standing as straight as if carved by a knife. A low‑angle shot is recommended, framing the cliff walls against the sky above to showcase the towering and awe‑inspiring scale of the gorge.

Horses and cattle are often found on the Kusasenri grassland, adding a lively element to the scenery. When shooting, you can use the animals as a foreground feature, echoing the distant volcano behind.

The Aso volcano crater is an active volcanic landscape where you can feel the geothermal heat and volcanic terrain up close. For photos, it is recommended to shoot a panorama from the observation platform, capturing the steaming crater and distant mountains in one frame.

The Takachiho little train runs slowly along the mountain gorge, offering the best way to experience Takachiho's natural scenery. For photos, it is recommended to sit by the window and capture both the train carriage and the greenery of the gorge in one shot.
