Hokkaido One‑Day Tour | Starts in April ・ Best Autumn Foliage in October — Set Off Early! From Early Summer Verdant Green to Late Autumn Crimson Maple, Enjoy Hokkaido's Layered Autumn Scenery in One Go.

【Hoheikyo Gorge】Hoheikyo Gorge is open approximately from June to October each year. From 3 November onwards, the Hoheikyo Gorge stop will be replaced with Jozankei. Visitors will have about 100 minutes of free time to take a leisurely stroll along the hot spring street, take photos, and enjoy a relaxing foot bath experience. Hoheikyo Gorge is a magnificent natural landscape centred around the Hoheikyo Dam, woven together by the Hoheikyo River and dense forests. It has been selected by the Japan Forest Agency for the "100 Selections of Water Source Forests" and the "100 Selections of Dam Lake Scenery". The scenery is especially stunning during the autumn foliage season.

【Jozankei】 Jozankei is a resort destination rich in natural beauty where visitors can get close to nature. The Toyohira River flows through the Jozankei Valley, and in autumn it is a renowned spot for viewing autumn leaves. From the red suspension bridge over the Toyohira River, visitors can also admire " Futami Rock " and " Kappa Abyss " which is associated with the kappa legend.

【Lake Toya】 Although Lake Toya is located in a cold region, it is a non‑freezing lake, and its clear water can be seen all year round. In spring, cherry blossoms bloom along the lakeshore; in summer, fireworks are set off in the evening; and in autumn, the forests are dyed in vibrant colours.

image.png

【Showa Shinzan】 Showa Shinzan is a volcano formed by eruptions between December 1943 and September 1945. Taking a ropeway from the foot of the mountain to the summit offers panoramic views of the mirror‑clear Lake Toya and the boundless beauty of the Pacific Ocean.

image.png

Usuzan Ropeway ・ Panoramic Views of Lake Toya The tour makes a special stop at 【Showa Shinzan】for approximately 1 hour, where visitors can optionally take the Usuzan Ropeway (at own expense) to ascend to an observation deck over 700 metres above sea level, overlooking the entirety of 【Lake Toya】and 【Usu Volcano Crater】. The magnificent scenery created by the interplay of volcano and lake is truly breathtaking! ※ Ropeway ride is optional and not included in the tour fee.

image.png

【Mount Yotei Meisui Park】 Mount Yotei is part of Shikotsu‑Toya National Park and is one of Japan's 100 Famous Mountains. Rainwater and melted snow that flow down Mount Yotei seep into the ground and gush forth here as spring water. Through the natural filtration process, it becomes sweet and delicious spring water.

Autumn Foliage Season Reminder The timing of autumn foliage colour changes varies slightly depending on the climate each year. Based on past experience, the best foliage viewing period at Hoheikyo Gorge and Jozankei is approximately from late September to late October. If you choose to depart during this period, you will have the opportunity to witness the brilliant transition from verdant green to fiery red — whether it's the tranquil early autumn or the mountains in full crimson glory, both are captivating!

image.png

✅ Recommended for travellers who • Want to avoid the crowds and enjoy the serene nature of early autumn or • Want to experience in one go Hokkaido's stunning combination of "volcano, lake, autumn foliage, and famous spring water"
