Nestled on the hillside of Taipei's hot spring district, the Beitou Museum is a pure wooden Japanese‑style building constructed in 1921. It was originally the top‑tier Jiashan Hot Spring Hotel and was designated as a city historic site in 1998. Covering an area of 2,640 square metres, the lush green grounds feature a Japanese garden with a small bridge, flowing water, and stone lanterns. The "Roji" tea garden at Taoranju offers a serene space to enjoy the scenery and calm the mind. The museum houses over 4,000 artefacts related to Taiwan and its indigenous peoples, with thematic exhibitions changing every six months, complemented by interactive experiences such as tea ceremony performances and hands‑on DIY activities. Here, you can not only explore the architectural charm of the Japanese colonial period but also savour creative kaiseki cuisine at the Yiranju Restaurant and pick up local cultural and creative souvenirs at the gift shop. With convenient access via a short bus ride from Xinbeitou MRT Station, this spot is an unmissable destination for cultural exploration, photo‑taking, or a peaceful stroll—a truly enriching experience in Beitou.

As night falls, the streetlights and foliage frame the garden in an even more serene and tranquil atmosphere, making one feel as if they are in a Kyoto garden.

Featuring a spacious hall with tatami mats, this large room allows you to experience the classic Japanese style.

The museum regularly hosts various cultural experience courses. If you are also interested in the art of tea ceremony, feel free to join and enjoy tea ceremony demonstrations, try your hand at whisking matcha, and more.

The exhibitions feature both thematic and permanent displays, where you can appreciate historical artefacts and trace the course of change.
