JR Pass is only applicable to non‑Japanese passport holders with a "Temporary Visitor" visa. Non‑Japanese passport holders with permanent residency in Japan are not eligible to use it

Please obtain a "Temporary Visitor" stamp/sticker upon entry to legally use the JR Pass. If you use the automated gate, you will not be able to obtain the above stamp/sticker

Japanese passport holders who have lived outside Japan for more than 10 years may legally use the JR Pass, provided they hold (1) a valid Japanese passport (2) a copy of the overseas household registration/overseas residence certificate issued by the Japanese embassy or the consulate of the country of overseas residence

To collect the JR Pass, please present the exchange order and passport at the airport or major train stations

Please note that only exchange orders issued in your own name can be used to redeem the JR Pass

The exchange order is valid for 90 days from the date of issue. Please use the exchange order to redeem the JR Pass within 90 days

When redeeming the pass, please ensure you choose an activation date within 30 days of redemption

The JR Pass is valid for 5 consecutive days after activation

Seats can be reserved at the ticket office through station staff
