Detailed Address: No. 35, Jiajiao, Xiayunli, Fuxing District, Taoyuan City.

Dongyanshan National Forest Recreation Area covers 916 hectares. Located in Xiayun Village, Fuxing District, Taoyuan, it is about 1.5 hours' drive from the Taipei metropolitan area, making it the largest forest recreation area in northern Taiwan. Its name, meaning "Eastern Eye Mountain," comes from its shape resembling a giant eye gazing eastward. With an altitude ranging from 650 to 1,212 metres, the northeast monsoon is blocked, resulting in an average annual temperature of 21°C and pleasant weather all year round.
The park features remarkable highlights. Clear traces of 30‑million‑year‑old marine fossils, including shellfish, shrimp, and crab trace fossils, can be seen, earning it the reputation of an outdoor geology classroom. Over 300 hectares of Japanese cedar forests intertwine with natural broad‑leaved forests, nurturing rich wildlife such as Formosan rock macaques and Taiwan barbets. It is an excellent spot for birdwatching, butterfly observation, and experiencing forest phytoncides.
The four hiking trails each have their own characteristics: the Self‑Guided Trail includes 20 ecological interpretation stations, offering panoramic views of mountain peaks and settlements from the summit; the Scenic Trail is flat and easy, taking just 5 to 10 minutes to enjoy the scenery; the Forest Knowledge Trail preserves old logging equipment, recounting local human history; and the Dongman Trail connects to Manyueyuan, suitable for avid hikers. Admission fees are NT$80 for adults on weekdays and NT$100 on holidays, with children and concession tickets starting as low as NT$10. Whether for family outings, ecological exploration, or leisure hiking, it offers great value.

Stroll through the misty, neatly arranged Japanese cedar forest, breathe in the phytoncides, and embark on the most soothing forest bath journey.

Climb step by step to the summit of Dongyanshan at 1,212 metres above sea level to take in the vistas from Taoyuan to the greater Taipei area.
