Ah Yat Harbour View Restaurant in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong, founded by Chef Yang Guan Yi’s apprentice Chan Chi Ho, was awarded two Michelin stars in 2013 and 2014. The restaurant serves traditional and creative Cantonese cuisine. In addition to abalone, signature dishes include braised oxtail in red wine sauce, crispy fried chicken, and traditional dim sum.
Ah Yat’s must‑order signature dish — Braised Whole Yoshihama Abalone in Abalone Sauce. The Yoshihama abalone comes from Yoshihama, Ofunato City, Iwate Prefecture, Japan, with its name derived from the similar pronunciation. It has a golden color, smaller head count, and wider, thicker skirt. Shaped like a gold ingot, with pointed ends and a tall abalone pillow. As Ah Yat’s signature dish, the master chefs’ professional cooking skills make the abalone fully infused with flavor, elastic yet not tough, with a thick abalone sauce that is not sticky.

Another recommended dish: Signature Stuffed Baked Crab Shell with Foie Gras. This dish uses butter to stir‑fry conpoy, foie gras, onion, and white mushrooms until fragrant. Mixed with egg whites and freshly picked flower crab meat, it is then stuffed back into the crab shell, brushed with egg yolk mixture on the surface, and baked until golden and crispy. The crab meat is rich in juice and fresh, the onion gives off a fragrant aroma, and the outer layer is crispy and smooth.

Ah Yat Harbour View Restaurant’s must‑order signature dish — Yat Gor Abalone Puff. When you come to Ah Yat, you simply must order a fresh and piping hot Yat Gor Abalone Puff. Though small in size, it is packed with surprises. The bottom tart shell is crispy with a rich buttery aroma, filled with savory and flavorful chicken pieces. A whole small abalone fills the entire tart shell completely, offering an impressive presentation. Soft and smooth on the palate, with a sweet and fresh taste — truly delicious.

Ah Yat’s signature dish repeatedly recommended by Michelin inspectors: Yat Gor Signature Claypot Fried Rice. This signature fried rice is cooked in a claypot with excellent heat conduction and retention. Abundant fresh prawns, char siu, and whole egg yolks are added, making the fried rice drier. Each grain of rice is chewy and distinct, offering rich layers of texture without being overly greasy. The unseasoned abalone sauce is fully absorbed into the rice and ingredients, ensuring that after one bowl, you will only want another. Moreover, a whole claypot serving is generous, enough to make about six bowls of fried rice.
