Located next to Dianshan Lake, Oriental Land is a large park with vast lake views and lush greenery. Most visitors come here for a relaxing outing, flying kites, or having a barbecue; families enjoy picnics on the lawn and riding multi‑person bicycles. The park also has play facilities for children and educational attractions, such as a simulated aircraft carrier. Many companies choose Oriental Land for team‑building activities. More importantly, most schools in Shanghai organise student military training and spring outings here.

Upon entering through Gate 4 of Oriental Land, visitors' attention is immediately drawn to the huge simulated aircraft carrier—especially children, who find it cool to see a life‑sized replica. Climbing aboard the carrier offers a bird's‑eye view of the park and a distant view of Dianshan Lake. Inside, there are various entertainment facilities and an aviation museum, making it a great place for edutainment. The park also features the Avenue of Wisdom, with over 160 statues of famous figures for children to learn about, and the Global Village, a collection of small villas in different architectural styles from around the world (providing accommodation for visitors). Other attractions include tennis courts, beach volleyball, and a swimming pool for sports and leisure.

Because it borders Dianshan Lake, many activities at Oriental Land are water‑related. The long lakeside promenade is perfect for a stroll with a view of the lake. There is also a water‑based "Braveheart's Trail" featuring unique obstacles like rope bridges, log bridges, and wooden stakes—visitors tread carefully to avoid falling into the water, making it a popular spot for team‑building activities. On Green Boat Lake, visitors can go boating in paddle boats, rowboats, or electric boats.

Bringing your own snacks and enjoying a lazy lunch on the lawn while soaking up the sun at Oriental Land is also a great option. If you prefer not to bring food, the park offers various restaurants and a barbecue area where you can rent grills and buy food for barbecuing.

Oriental Land is quite large, so renting a bicycle to travel between attractions adds to the fun. The park offers both single and tandem bicycles for visitors to choose from.
