Taipei Zoo is one of the world's top ten metropolitan zoos. You can get there by taking the MRT WENHU Line to Taipei Zoo Station. It's definitely a great place to spend your weekend! The zoo is home to over 300 species of animals, including the round and adorable giant pandas, the cute and silly penguins, and the super popular Malayan tapirs. Come and have fun at Taipei Zoo!

Taiwan Animal Zone
1. Exhibition Highlights: This zone focuses on presenting Taiwan's native wildlife, aiming to let the public understand Taiwan's rich ecological environment and unique species. The zoo creates habitats that mimic Taiwan's natural environments, such as forests and streams, providing animals with living spaces that closely resemble their original ecosystems.
2. Representative Animals: These include the Formosan black bear, a bear species unique to Taiwan, known for its large size and distinctive survival habits; the Swinhoe's pheasant, a bird species endemic to Taiwan, with brilliantly coloured feathers, making it one of Taiwan's precious bird species; and the sambar deer, the largest herbivorous mammal in Taiwan, which was once widely distributed across Taiwan's mountain forests.

Asian Tropical Rainforest Zone

1. Environment Creation: This area replicates the ecological environment of the Asian tropical rainforest, characterised by high temperatures, high humidity, and lush vegetation. The zoo has planted a wide variety of rainforest plants, such as tall trees and climbing vines, creating a rich tropical rainforest atmosphere.
2. Animal Display: This includes elephants, the largest land mammals, which play an important ecological role in the Asian tropical rainforest; gibbons, which have flexible limbs and excellent climbing abilities, swinging gracefully between trees; and hornbills, whose unique appearance and habits attract the attention of many visitors – hornbills have large, distinctively shaped beaks.

Desert Animal Zone

1. Environmental Features: With the desert environment as its theme, the zoo recreates the dry, hot climate and landscape features of a desert by laying sand and planting drought‑resistant plants.
2. Animal Species: Camels are the typical representatives of desert animals. They have special physiological structures adapted to the desert environment, such as humps that store fat to cope with long periods of food shortage. There are also foxes, which are relatively small in size with fur colour similar to the desert environment, helping them hide and hunt in the desert. In addition, some reptiles such as lizards are also on display, which likewise have the ability to adapt to the dry desert environment.

Koalas spend most of their time resting in trees and feeding on eucalyptus leaves, looking delightfully cute. Emus are the world's second‑largest birds, tall in stature and excellent runners.
