The Morning Calm Arboretum is a private arboretum founded in 1996 by Professor Han Sang‑kyung of Sahmyook University, who was determined to create a world‑class beautiful garden that could represent Korea. "Morning Calm" originates from the Indian poet Tagore's description of Korea as "a country of quiet morning," and the arboretum embodies the natural beauty of Korea, the mystery of the East, and the noble spirit of the Korean people. The design of the Morning Calm Arboretum incorporates Korea's inherent sense of curvilinear beauty and negative space, showcasing classical elegance and uninhibitedness through an asymmetric balance of beauty.

The Beauty of the Four Seasons
【Spring】
Spring at the Morning Calm Arboretum begins with the blooming of yellow adonis, winter hazel, and witch hazel. Seeing the plants striving toward the warm sunlight makes one feel the full spirit of spring. As winter gives way to spring, the thawing mountain streams echo with the clear sound of flowing water, birds chirp joyfully, and the withered trees burst forth with fresh greenery.

Spring Flower Walking Festival
Centred around communities of spring flowers such as tulips, azaleas, and daffodils, the ground blooms profusely with magnolias, rhododendrons, plum blossoms, forsythias, and cherry blossoms. The spring scenery is captivating, and against the backdrop of the graceful beauty of Joryeong Mountain, it presents a picturesque view.

【Summer】
In summer, the dense green shade and the profusion of blooming flowers rival the beauty of spring. Unlike spring, when flowers bloom in clusters, summer allows one to deeply appreciate the fullness and vibrancy of each individual flower. In the Garden of Eden, Seohwa Pond, the Morning Calm Walkway, the Moonlight Garden, the Sunken Garden, and the Garden Villa, visitors can fully enjoy summer plants such as hydrangeas, clematis, roses, peonies, phlox, veronica, lemon balm, lilies, daylilies, and lotus flowers.

Iris Festival
Every June, the ground ripples with waves of purple. The irises, named after the rainbow goddess of Greek and Roman mythology, flaunt their beautiful forms.

【Autumn】
The autumn scenery of the Morning Calm Arboretum, embraced by Joryeong Mountain, is like admiring a watercolour painting. From any angle, one can fully appreciate the brilliant autumn foliage at the foot of Joryeong Mountain. With the fragrance of autumn chrysanthemums, the Morning Calm Arboretum in the crisp, clear autumn air, with its layers of forest dyed in colours, is truly captivating and makes visitors linger.

Autumn Foliage Festival
Every October, the ground is dyed with the clear and radiant light of autumn. The groves of Japanese larch standing tall and proud elevate the beauty of the Morning Calm autumn to its extreme, while the colourful trees shine in harmony, showcasing a unique beauty distinct from spring and summer.
【Winter】
The beautiful plants that bloom in spring, summer, and autumn all wither due to the cold and prepare for winter. The garden, covered in white snow, becomes simple and seems tranquil and serene. Walking along the snowy paths, the birdsong that pierces the stillness and the sound of water flowing beneath the ice permeate the soul.
