Daming Mountain is located in the western part of Lin'an, close to Anhui Province. It belongs to the remaining range of Mount Huangshan, inheriting the spectacular peaks and strange rocks of Huangshan while also possessing the elegance of Zhejiang's mountain and river scenery. In spring and summer, visitors can enjoy hiking and escaping the heat, while in winter, the Daming Mountain Ski Resort is a top destination for skiing. Traversing the 10,000‑metre cave, walking along the suspended plank road, or taking the dry slide down the mountain are all great experiences.

If you are physically fit, you can take the scenic area shuttle bus from the entrance to "Longmen Gorge Entrance" and start hiking from there. Along the way, you'll be surrounded by lush forests, accompanied by streams and waterfalls. After about 2 hours of climbing, you'll reach the Longmen Flying Bridge, where you can witness the majestic Longmen Waterfall. From here, heading forward, you'll see the thousand‑mu meadow. It is said that Zhu Yuanzhang, the founding emperor of the Ming Dynasty, once cultivated land and stationed troops in this high‑altitude basin at an elevation of 1,000 metres, making it his base against the Yuan Dynasty—this is also the origin of the name Daming Mountain. To the right, you can climb up to the observation deck to overlook the seven main peaks, known as the "Seven Peaks of Mingfei"; to the left, you can enter the 10,000‑metre cave, a horizontal tunnel through the mountain that stays cool in summer and warm in winter, originally a mining tunnel left by miners.

If you don't want to go through the entire cave, you can first walk along the suspended plank road outside, then continue through half of the cave. Along the way, you'll reach Jiayun Platform, an excellent spot for enjoying mountain views, and sometimes you can even see beautiful seas of clouds. Exiting the cave and walking straight ahead, you'll arrive at the rippling Daming Lake, where you can experience boating on the high‑altitude lake. Behind Daming Lake is the Daming Mountain Ski Resort, open from late December to early March each year. After enjoying the beautiful scenery around Daming Lake, you can take the cable car down from the station in front of the lake, or at the cave exit, take the 1.1‑kilometre dry slide down to the lower cable car station, or simply return the same way on foot.

The highest peak of Daming Mountain, Daming Peak, stands at 1,489 metres above sea level. All the scenic spots are located at elevations above 1,000 metres, but the terrain on the mountain is relatively gentle, making it easier to walk. A full hiking tour takes about 4‑5 hours. For visitors with limited stamina, you can take the cable car up and down, or take the cable car up and the dry slide down, with the entire tour taking about 3 hours.
