Originally a fishing community, Lamma Island has since evolved into a neighbourhood where many expatriates have settled, adding diverse vitality to this traditional fishing village. Strolling through Sok Kwu Wan, rich in fishing village character, and Yung Shue Wan, brimming with a foreign ambience, wandering among handicraft shops, seafood restaurants and specialty stores, you will soon be captivated by the island's unique blend of East‑meets‑West appeal. You can follow the 5‑kilometre Lamma Island Family Walk, which connects the eastern and northern ends of the island, to take in the magnificent sea and mountain views, explore cultural heritage sites, and discover traces of traditional fishing village life.

To learn more about Hong Kong's fishing culture, visit the Lamma Island Fisherfolk Village. The village introduces the traditional culture and daily life of local fishermen, and allows you to get up close to dragon boats, fish rafts, vintage fishing vessels and rowing sampans. You can even board a historic three‑masted fishing junk. The village also features an exhibition hall displaying photographs and tools used by fishermen in the old days, as well as offering games and activities suitable for the whole family, including fishing, rope weaving and salted fish making. The souvenir shop in the village sells dried seafood, local snacks, sauces and condiments made by local fishermen.
