Ipoh
Ipoh is the capital of Perak, Malaysia. Once renowned for its abundant tin deposits, it earned the nickname 'Tin Capital'. It is famous for its nostalgic Nanyang ambience, karst landscapes, and local delicacies. In the old town, the colourful shop houses and murals of Concubine Lane are rich in vintage charm; the Ipoh Railway Station, known as the 'Taj Mahal of Ipoh', features elegant architecture. Among the natural attractions, the Perak Tong and Kek Lok Tong are the most famous, with Buddha statues and stalactites complementing each other inside the caves, and scenic lake and mountain views outside. As a food capital, Bean Sprout Chicken is a signature dish, featuring tender chicken paired with crisp, plump bean sprouts for an excellent texture; Ipoh white coffee is smooth, rich, and uniquely caramel-flavoured. Other snacks include pork offal congee, duck web, fried kway teow, and tofu pudding. The dessert street is a popular supper destination.
