

Chungbuk
Chungcheongbuk-do is an inland province in central Korea and the only region in South Korea without a coastline, with its capital in Cheongju. The area is blessed with picturesque mountains and rivers, and a rich cultural heritage. Songnisan National Park is a famous mountain in Korea, home to the千年古刹 Beopjusa Temple, where the colossal Maitreya Buddha statue and wooden architecture are truly spectacular. Woraksan National Park features rugged peaks and is covered in vibrant autumn foliage. Cheongju's Cheongnamdae and Sangdangsanseong Fortress showcase historical charm, while Danyang's Dodam Sambong Peaks and Cheongpung Lake offer breathtaking scenery of lakes and mountains. In terms of cuisine, must-try dishes include Chungju's nourishing pheasant hotpot, Okcheon's spicy freshwater fish stew with rich flavours, Cheongju's unique loach soup, as well as local Korean delicacies such as Chungcheong-style sundae and Jincheon beef soup, all representing the authentic taste of the countryside.
