Noboribetsu
Noboribetsu is located in southern Hokkaido and is one of Japan's top hot spring resorts. Noboribetsu Onsen features 11 different types of spring water. Jigokudani (Hell Valley) is a volcanic remnant with sulfur fumaroles, hot springs, and a surreal colourful landscape. Oyunuma Pond is shrouded in rising steam. Noboribetsu Bear Park offers close-up encounters with brown bears. Lake Shikotsu and Lake Toya are just a stone's throw away. The local cuisine features Hokkaido seafood (king crab, hairy crab, sea urchin, salmon roe), while Noboribetsu onsen eggs, Genghis Khan grilled lamb, Sapporo ramen, Hokkaido dairy products, and pumpkin pudding are both delicious and soul-soothing.
