Kagawa Prefecture
Kagawa Prefecture is located in the northern part of Shikoku Island, along the Seto Inland Sea, and is renowned as the “Kingdom of Udon”. Ritsurin Garden in the prefectural capital Takamatsu is one of the Three Great Gardens of Japan. Naoshima and Shodoshima form an artistic archipelago. Kotohira-gu Shrine (Kotohira Town) is a popular Shinto shrine in Japan, with a long approach path. The Seto Ohashi Bridge is majestic. The cuisine is centred on Sanuki udon, with thick, chewy noodles and various ways of eating, such as kamaage and dipping noodles. Seto Inland Sea delicacies (such as mackerel sushi and oysters), olive-fed beef (from Shodoshima), Shodoshima soy sauce, Kagawa honey cake, and hand-stretched somen noodles are all exceptionally delicious.
