Sanya
Sanya City (Li language: (dias)qix Damxax; Hainanese Pinyin: Dam¹a¹ Si⁵), abbreviated as Ya, was formerly known as Yazhou (Li language: Dzaizous) and Yaxian (Li language: Dzaigwaeis) before the administrative centre moved eastward. It is a prefecture-level city in Hainan Province that enjoys the same autonomous treatment as Li autonomous counties but is not an ethnic autonomous area. It is located at the southernmost tip of Hainan Island. The main bays include Sanya Bay, Haitang Bay, Yalong Bay, Yazhou Bay, Dadonghai Bay, and Moon Bay. There are 40 islands of various sizes, with 10 major ones. The urban area of Sanya is situated in a picturesque natural environment characterised by mountains, sea, and rivers. The city's construction pays attention to the coordination between the city and the natural landscape and ecological environment. The "mountain-sea-river-city" combination is ingeniously integrated, forming the unique environmental characteristics of Sanya's urban area.
