Daegu Seomun Market, established in the 1920s, is one of Daegu's oldest markets. The three major markets of the Joseon era were those in Daegu, Pyongyang, and Gangjeong. Seomun Market is located west of the Daegu city wall, hence the name. Originally located in the area surrounding what is now Market North Road and Motorcycle Alley, it was open only on the 2nd and 7th of each month. The market primarily sells silk, linen, fabrics, handicrafts, men's and women's clothing, bowls, dried seafood, and more—almost anything you can buy here. The market also offers heating and cooling facilities and a large parking lot for the convenience of tourists.
