Busan offers a vibrant landscape of cultural events, community art exhibitions, and creative spaces managed through the Busan Cultural Foundation. Visitors and residents can engage with diverse local programmes, ranging from traditional folk performances to contemporary youth art displays spanning various districts of the city.

Youth Art Projects and Exhibitions

The initiative known as 'Youth Art Subscription' connects young artists' works with public and private spaces to foster an artistic culture in everyday environments. Spanning multiple phases from April 27, 2026, through March 26, 2027, the programme involves partner organisations including local police stations, financial institutions, transport corporations, and medical centres.

Additionally, specific venues host dedicated showcases. For instance, the Ongru Groove Zone hosts the relay archive exhibition titled *The Clearest Piece*, running from May 4 to December 11, 2026, featuring works by resident artists and teams like Shin Jun-seo, Ephata Theatre, Son Sung-il, Blue Art, and Botnarae. Admission is free, operating Monday through Friday from 10:00 to 17:00, with closures on weekends and public holidays.

Creative Spaces and Relay Exhibitions

Hongti Art Centre features its resident artist exhibition *∑Mmm(I음) Exhibition - Serendipity: The Moment When Coincidence Becomes Meaning*, running from April 29 to November 25, 2026. Six resident artists, including Chen Fei-hao from Taiwan, Seo So-hyung, Lee Hyun-jung, Kim Yi-hwa, Kim Kyung-mook, and Jung Jae-yeon, present free exhibitions open to the general public.

Similarly, Dugu Creative Space presents the relay exhibition *Traces, Still Playing* from March 18 to November 27, 2026. Featuring seven resident artists, the exhibition operates Monday through Friday from 10:00 to 18:00 at the Sports Park Leports Headquarters location in Geumjeong-gu, Busan. Further individual exhibitions such as Jeon Mi's *Layered Seasons* add to the continuous stream of cultural offerings.

Traditional Performances and Festivals

Traditional folk performances remain an integral part of Busan's cultural calendar. The Saturday Permanent Traditional Folk Play Yard series brings intangible cultural heritage performances, traditional games, and heritage experience programmes to locations such as Busan Citizens Park and Yongdusan Park. Scheduled sessions include events featuring Donghae-Aon Byeolsingut and Gijang Ogugut, alongside Dadaepo Hurisori, Gudok Mangkaesori, and Busan Gobundori Golrip.

Other major events hosted in the city include the Busan Sea Library programmes and the Busan International Performing Arts Market (BPAM). Urban art initiatives like the CATs Sasang Indie Station exhibition *B-SIDE: Drawing the B-Side of the City* and the Hansung1918 open studio event *Breaking Bricks* further highlight the dynamic interplay between contemporary urban culture and local community spaces.
