Busan is widely recognised as a coastal destination, but the city also reveals a different side during the autumn season. Travellers looking to experience colourful foliage and quieter paths can explore newly highlighted autumn spots and traditional local dining options across the city.

UN Memorial Cemetery

Located in Daeyeon-dong, Nam-gu, close to Gwangalli, the UN Memorial Cemetery is a resting place for UN soldiers who fought during the Korean War. The site offers a solemn and peaceful atmosphere where many people go for walks. It is also known across Busan as a spot for double cherry blossoms and metasequoia paths.

The well-maintained lawns, graves, and metasequoia trees convey a sense of respect for the fallen soldiers. While traditionally known to local citizens as a foliage destination, it has gained popularity for its metasequoia path, attracting photography enthusiasts and international tour groups. Seeing a metasequoia path in a coastal city like Busan highlights another side of the area.

Walking along the metasequoia forest path with someone special is a way to appreciate the short autumn season. Visitors can experience the autumn atmosphere at the UN Memorial Cemetery while paying respects to the UN soldiers.

Ssadungyi Dwaeji Gukbap

Inside the restaurant, photographs of representative tourist spots around Busan, such as Gwangandaegyo Bridge, Haeundae, and Jagalchi Market, hang on the walls. The walls also feature a continuous lineup of photos displaying different gukbap menu items, making it easy for first-time visitors to see what each dish looks like and choose according to their preference. An autographed sign left by singer Lim Young-woong is also displayed inside.

The boiled pork slice portion is served stacked on a plate with an appropriate mix of fat and lean meat, offering a chewy yet tender texture without a gamey smell. A subtle flame kept burning beneath the plate ensures the meat stays warm until the final piece.

The accompanying gukbap has a slightly smaller portion than a standalone bowl of pork soup, but it contains a generous amount of somen noodles and meat. Alternating between the boiled pork and the gukbap provides a filling meal combination.

Yongso Wellbeing Park

Situated in Gijang-eup, Gijang-gun, Yongso Wellbeing Park is a walking-oriented park centred around a modest reservoir and forest paths. Walking a full circle around the lake takes about 30 minutes, supported by connected waterside deck paths and forest walking trails. Benches, pavilions, exercise equipment, and children's play areas are located throughout the park.

During autumn, the metasequoia trees lining the edge of the lake turn a vivid golden colour, shifting the mood of the park. Reflections of the trees stretch across the water surface, and walking along the deck path blends the sound of leaves rustling in the wind with fallen leaves beneath. A small boat resting quietly in the middle of the lake provides a steady focal point for visitors observing the season.

Daeseong Galchi Jjigae

After walking through Yongso Wellbeing Park, visitors often stop by Daeseong Galchi Jjigae in Gijang. A banner near the front notes its selection as a taste of Busan, and autographed signs from celebrity couples hang on the wall inside.

Side dishes such as seasoned eggplant, acorn jelly, stir-fried mushrooms, cucumber kimchi, and blanched vegetables are served with mild seasonings that retain their original ingredient flavours. The main galchi jjigae is served bubbling with thick cutlassfish pieces piled on top. The broth carries a spicy yet grounded flavor, while the cutlassfish meat offers a savory taste.
