The annual running event is set to return with exciting updates to its course and organisation for participants travelling to the region. The Incheon Marathon, which features the city's only 42.195-kilometre full marathon course, will officially take place on November 22. Following its initial staging last year at Munhak Stadium in Michuhol-gu, event organisers and city officials are implementing strategic changes to accommodate the large scale of the participants and enhance overall efficiency.

Course Updates and Landmark Routes

For this year's event, officials are actively reviewing a revised course layout designed to showcase both urban energy and coastal scenery. The proposed route is being considered to pass through Cheongna Haneul Bridge (Cheongna Bridge), which connects Yeongjong in Jung-gu to Cheongna in Seo-gu, before continuing along the southern coastal road of Incheon Airport.

Participants who register for the full course will experience a distinctive race route combining dynamic city views with the scenic landscape of the West Coast. Organisers intend to finalise these route details ahead of the official participant registration phase.

Venue Relocation and Event Categories

Because the Incheon Marathon draws an estimated 20,000 participants, management has decided to relocate the main assembly and starting point to the Incheon Asiad Main Stadium in Seo-gu. This adjustment aims to bolster systematic safety management and improve the operational efficiency of such a large-scale gathering.

Runners can choose from three distinct categories depending on their training and fitness levels. The event categories comprise:

* Full course (42.195 kilometres)

* 10-kilometre division

* 5-kilometre division

Budget and Registration Schedule

The total budget allocated for the Incheon Marathon is 2.0 billion won, combining a principal budget of 1.0 billion won with an anticipated supplementary budget allocation of another 1.0 billion won. City officials have stated that participant recruitment will commence in July, with comprehensive course particulars and further operational guidelines made public upon final confirmation.
