A Deep Dive into Cultural Mediation and Storytelling

Organised by the landmark Madrid museum, the six-session study seminar forms part of the broader Studies Constellation 2026–2027 initiative. Designed as a platform for collective discussion, the sessions explore alternative models of cultural institutions, artistic practice, work organisation, and the circulation of knowledge. Drawing inspiration from Caribbean storytelling traditions, the project examines storytelling as a shared practice of transmission and transformation.

  • Rehearsal and Repetition: Exploring how repeated practices alter and reactivate past narratives within present political and cultural contexts.

  • Communities of Interpretation: Bringing groups together to interpret shared archives, stories, and objects through ongoing dialogue.

  • Living Archives: Activating historical traces, songs, gestures, and oral traditions.

  • De-speaking (Déparler): Questioning dominant institutional authority to accommodate diverse voices, multilingualism, and creative dissonance.

The program aims to imagine art spaces beyond traditional physical constraints, conceiving them as temporary gatherings, mobile infrastructures, living archives, or shared story circles. Visitors interested in Madrid's contemporary art landscape can register for the sessions through the museum's study centre platform.
