Naejangsan National Park (내장산국립공원)

Naejangsan is South Korea’s eighth national park. It gets its name from its intricate, winding mountain ranges characterised by mountains nested within mountains. When autumn rolls around, huge crowds of maple‑gazing tourists flock here! Although Bukhansan Mountain is the mountain closest to Seoul, Seoraksan and Naejangsan are the two most famous destinations for autumn foliage viewing. If you have time, you can plan a Naejangsan one‑day tour. Even though the round‑trip coach ride from Seoul takes about six hours, it is a much‑loved maple‑viewing spot favoured by local Koreans every autumn!

While Mudeungsan may not be as famous for maple‑gazing as Seoraksan or Naejangsan, its density and beauty of maple foliage are on par with other top Korean autumn‑foliage spots. Winding roads dotted with falling maple leaves create a romantic atmosphere, plus you can steer clear of huge tourist crowds.

【Damyang Metasequoia‑lined Road】

▶︎Transport: (1) Seoul (Honam) Express Bus Terminal (Central City Terminal) → alight at Damyang Bus Terminal (approx. 3 hours 45 minutes). Walk for 5 minutes to the end of Gwanbangjerim (across from Juknowon), where you will find the Metasequoia‑lined Road. (2) At Damyang Bus Terminal, take Rural Bus 10‑1 (7 services on weekdays daily) → get off at Gipeunsil Stop (around 14 minutes), then walk for 2 minutes.
