Autumn‑foliage Spot Recommendations
Deoksugung Palace (덕수궁)
Palaces are must‑include attractions for travellers visiting Korea. As one of Korea’s Five Grand Palaces, Deoksugung Palace is a popular stop for many visitors to Seoul.
Apart from the historic buildings within the palace grounds, the real autumn highlight is Deoksugung Stone‑wall Walk. Rows of maple trees line the ancient stone boundary wall. The aged stone steps and perimeter wall, paired with lines of fiery maple foliage, create stunning perspective shots. Netizens hail it as “Korea’s Most Beautiful Street”. Every autumn, blazing red maples and golden ginkgo leaves form a spectacular backdrop. It is also a filming location for the hit K‑drama Goblin, drawing streams of tourists in fall.

It is the largest, most grand and traditional royal palace among Korea’s Five Grand Palaces. Yeouido Park boasts a vast site. You can take a leisurely stroll over to Han‑gang Park, a beloved date spot for Korean couples, which takes roughly 10‑15 minutes. Bicycle‑rental outlets are available nearby for you to cycle there instead! It is a laid‑back weekend getaway favoured by local Seoulites. Founded back in 1886, Ewha Womans University is one of Korea’s long‑standing higher‑education institutions, as well as the country’s very first women‑only university. It is most famous for the grand stone‑wall entrance, alongside stunning European‑style campus buildings and chapel. Apart from being one of Korea’s top‑ranked women’s universities, it is also an extremely popular tourist attraction.
Unlike the antique charm of royal palaces, the whole campus is draped in fiery maple red and bright golden ginkgo foliage each autumn. With the elegant European‑style chapel as backdrop, photos taken here could easily pass for shots from Europe! Trust us, the autumn scenery is absolutely breathtaking.

Kyung Hee University (경희대학교)
Alright! Here comes another hugely popular university tourist spot in Seoul — Kyung Hee University. The campus is dominated by Gothic‑style buildings. Sitting on a hillside, layers of maple and ginkgo trees spread across different elevations, creating absolutely enchanting autumn scenery.
Do not miss Peace Hall halfway up the hill. Upon entering the main gate, take the sloped access road on the right‑hand side of the main building, and you will reach Peace Hall, a well‑loved photo hotspot for visitors. Peace Hall looks absolutely stunning, made even more breathtaking surrounded by autumn maple foliage.

As one of Korea’s Five Grand Palaces, Changdeokgung Palace houses the Secret Garden (Huwon), which has grown into one of Seoul’s most sought‑after attractions in recent years. First built in 1405, this UNESCO World‑heritage‑listed garden preserves the finest aesthetics of traditional Korean royal courtyards and holds immense cultural value.
Ancient giant trees aged over 300 years stand within the grounds, complemented by palace ponds and pavilions. When maple foliage turns crimson, the whole setting is simply spectacular.

Samcheong‑dong blends well‑preserved traditional hanok houses, stylish indie cafés, boutique craft shops, antique stores and art galleries. You can enjoy leisurely strolling as well as browsing shops. This fusion of old and new creates Samcheong‑dong’s one‑of‑a‑kind charm.

Seoul Forest (서울숲)
Spanning a huge area, Seoul Forest is Seoul’s go‑to urban green space, comparable to Taipei Daan Forest Park (roughly four times its size). It is ideal for weekend strolls, dog‑walking and picnics. Best of all, it is reachable by Metro, unlike many other parks situated in far‑flung suburban zones.
The park is divided into five major zones: Culture & Arts Park, Ecological Forest, Wetland Zone, Nature‑experience Area and Han‑gang Riverside Park. Besides being a top spot for autumn maple and ginkgo viewing, it is also a favourite cherry‑blossom destination in spring. Every shaded nook makes a brilliant photo‑taking spot — perfect for filling up your camera memory!
