Working with the Korea Tourism Organization, the ministry will invest KRW 40 million in each event over two years to strengthen competitiveness and brand awareness, while supporting global promotion, travel-product development, content competitiveness and the adoption of artificial intelligence. Starting this year, individual subsidies for existing festivals are being replaced with links to global events sharing the same theme, geographic proximity and regional attractions. To support this, the ministry raised its festival budget from KRW 6.5 billion last year to KRW 10.4 billion this year, with three additional global and four prospective festivals to be selected.
