Korea's New Korail Pass Plus: One Transit Card for KTX, Subways and Buses

December 31, 2025

Korea Railroad Corp. (Korail) has rolled out the Korail Pass Plus, a dedicated transit pass for international visitors that works on the KTX bullet train as well as subways and buses nationwide. The card merges the original Korail Pass — which grants affordable cross-country rail travel for two to five days — with a rechargeable prepaid card for subways and buses.

Visitors can buy the Korail Pass through the Korail website (www.korail.com) or at a station, then add KRW 8,000 to unlock the transit-card function. Once topped up, the Korail Pass Plus can be used on subways and buses across Korea and for payments at offline retailers such as convenience stores. To activate, go to korailpassplus.korailnetworks.com, enter the card number and enable the transit service. Cards are issued at designated kiosks in major KTX stations, including Incheon International Airport, Seoul, Busan, Dongdaegu and Daejeon.
