Over the past few years, Tokyo Confidential has carved out a reputation as a must-visit cocktail destination in the capital. Known for its buzzing energy and a drinks menu that gets a complete overhaul each year, the bar has previously drawn inspiration from everything from Japanese baseball culture to maneki-neko lucky cats. Its newest concept, however, might just be the most delightfully unexpected yet — turning nostalgic konbini (convenience store) favourites into inventive, beautifully presented cocktails.

Dubbed "Konbini Confidential", the freshly launched menu reimagines the snacks and staples you'd grab on any late-night konbini run. Think instant cup noodles, onigiri rice balls, melon pan sweet bread, and even those colourful gummy candies — each one transformed into a surprising new drink that's equal parts whimsical and sophisticated.

Highlights from the menu include the Confidential Noodle, a highball that pays homage to Japan's beloved Cup Noodle. Bourbon and awamori (an Okinawan spirit) are shaken together with mango, corn, and a custom noodle-inspired spice blend, then served in a cheeky 3D-printed mug designed to look exactly like the iconic instant ramen container.

For those who lean towards savoury cocktails, the Onigiritini cleverly captures the essence of a classic rice ball. A sake base is enhanced with rice shochu, seaweed, and soy sauce, delivering that unmistakable onigiri character. The drink arrives with a small side of tuna mayo — just like the real thing.

The Mom's Spaghetti channels Japan's beloved Napolitan pasta, combining barley shochu with ketchup and a house-made pickle blend of onion, bell pepper, and tomato for a surprisingly balanced savoury sip.

Sweeter options include the Melon Pan, which incorporates a custom melon pan-flavoured doburoku (cloudy sake) alongside the bar's signature Butter Up Sake and rum. The highlight here is the custom cup, sculpted to resemble the iconic sweet bun itself. Meanwhile, the Night Hopper offers a Tokyo Confidential spin on the Grasshopper, blending rum, pandan, cacao, mint, cream, and cookies into a mint-chocolate dream.

The Give Me a White Wine Spritzer, inspired by grape-flavoured konbini gummies, delivers a crisp, effortlessly drinkable combination of Calvados, sherry, pisco, Niagara wine, and Champagne. And for something with a kick, the Famimarg riffs on the viral konbini pairing of spicy fried chicken sandwiched between maple pancakes, featuring tequila, mezcal, spicy chicken seasoning, maple syrup, and lime.

The menu goes well beyond these highlights, with plenty more creations waiting to be discovered in person. Longtime favourites including the Cheung Fun Old Fashioned and the Only Fans pornstar martini remain available, alongside an alcohol-free selection, Fernet Branca, and Guinness on tap. Signature hot dogs and playful bar snacks round out the experience.
