China ASEAN Expo - CAEXPO
Details
About【Exhibition Overview】
The China-ASEAN Expo, abbreviated as CAEXPO, is an international economic and trade event co-hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of China, the economic and trade authorities of the 10 ASEAN member states, and the ASEAN Secretariat, and undertaken by the People's Government of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. As a national key exhibition directly hosted at the state level and held annually, it carries exceptional international influence. It is also the only one among thousands of domestic exhibitions attended by a main Chinese leader at the level of a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee. It is ranked as a first-class national exhibition alongside the Boao Forum for Asia and the Summer Davos Forum, and is highly recognised by political and business communities in both China and ASEAN countries.
【Exhibition Positioning and Activities】
With “innovation and upgrading” as its core theme, the CAEXPO focuses on the deep integration of informatisation, intelligence and manufacturing, with the development goal of driving industrial upgrading through technological innovation. It aims to further deepen international production capacity and equipment manufacturing cooperation between China and ASEAN, with greater emphasis on enhancing the technological content and added value of export products. The expo also vigorously develops trade in services, effectively guiding and supporting enterprises to “go global” in production capacity and investment cooperation, and striving to build an industrial chain and value system with deeper integration, stronger driving force and broader benefits.
The expo features a dedicated investment cooperation section, having hosted more than 80 ASEAN investment promotion activities to date, covering areas including international production capacity cooperation, international project contracting, labour cooperation, resource development, information technology, energy development, infrastructure construction, park investment promotion, as well as railways, non-ferrous metals, power and agriculture. It serves as an ideal platform for China, ASEAN and countries along the Belt and Road to release investment environments and policies, conduct production capacity cooperation and match investment projects.
In addition to exhibitions, the expo also hosts high-level, multi-sector cooperation forums covering more than 40 fields, including customs, inspection and quarantine, finance, logistics and information. Through dialogue and communication among participating parties, these forums help establish cooperation mechanisms, facilitate project implementation, and enable all parties to share the development opportunities brought by the Belt and Road Initiative.
【Core Advantages of the Exhibition】
As a national strategic cooperation platform, it is the largest and most influential international economic and trade event between China and the ASEAN region. The 22nd CAEXPO brought together 3,260 enterprises from 60 countries, making it a vital strategic gateway for Chinese enterprises to deepen their presence in the ASEAN market and connect with global resources.
Leveraging the development dividends of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area (ACFTA) Version 3.0, negotiations for Version 3.0 have now been fully completed, incorporating digital economy, green economy and supply chain connectivity into the new agreement provisions. Participating enterprises can seize the policy dividends of trade facilitation and market access liberalisation brought by the FTA upgrade, and take the lead in capturing opportunities from regional economic integration.
This edition of the expo has established a frontier AI showcase, debuting a dedicated artificial intelligence pavilion with a total of 1,200 cutting-edge technological achievements on display. AI and AI-enabled exhibits account for over 50% of the total, with AI pavilion trade transactions exceeding RMB 140 million. Industry leaders including Huawei, Alibaba Cloud and iFlytek showcased their products side by side, providing an efficient platform for enterprises to match ASEAN's digital transformation needs.
The expo attracted global buyers in large numbers, with over 11,000 procurement firms and more than 30,000 visits for procurement purposes at this edition, accumulating 226,000 visits to the venue for viewing and purchasing. A total of 627 ASEAN enterprises participated, accounting for 32.8% of all exhibitors, making the ASEAN participation scale the largest among domestic exhibitions of all types in China. Signature star products such as Cambodian rice and Malaysian Musang King durians remained popular, and the procurement matching sessions proved precise and efficient.
The expo enables in-depth connections at the highest level, with 5 ASEAN national leaders and 234 ministerial-level VIPs from China and abroad attending this edition. Concurrent high-profile events such as the AI Ministers' Meeting and the Young Leaders Growth Programme were also held, offering authoritative channels for enterprises to connect with government resources and expand government-business cooperation.
The expo has delivered tangible economic and trade results, achieving over 700 cooperation outcomes of various kinds and 155 centrally signed projects, including 44 “AI+” enabled projects. A total of 432 representative enterprises, including Fortune Global 500 companies, China's Top 500 companies and unicorns, participated in the exhibition, representing a 7.5% increase in exhibitor numbers compared with the previous edition, bringing substantial commercial returns to participating enterprises.
