As night falls gently, arriving at Shirakawa‑go after 5:00 PM, the tour experience involves a walking tour within the village. Warm lights illuminate the thick snow‑covered old Gassho‑zukuri houses, with thatched roofs piled high with pristine snow, soft halos of light flowing along the rural paths, and stream water reflecting the twinkling lights, making every frame look like a fairy tale scene. Due to on‑site regulations, access to the observation deck is extremely restricted, and visiting high points to overlook the panoramic view is basically unavailable. The tour focuses on a close‑up stroll within the village, allowing you to immerse yourself in the tranquil atmosphere of the illumination scene.

The illumination event dates are tentative and subject to change or even cancellation, and snowy landscapes are subject to weather conditions and are not guaranteed. Nighttime temperatures on‑site will drop below freezing, so complete cold‑weather preparations are essential. It is recommended to bring a thick windproof and waterproof jacket, and waterproof, warm snow boots with deep treads and strong grip; prioritize bringing a raincoat or poncho, as umbrellas are not only difficult to use in windy environments but also carry the risk of accidentally injuring others. Some rural paths have dim lighting, so a flashlight is indispensable. Also, remember to bring body warmers, warm gloves, a woolen hat, and earmuffs to thoroughly cope with the severe cold environment.
