Girona Art Museum Introduction

The Art Museum is housed in Girona's historic former Episcopal Palace, a magnificent building listed as a historic‑artistic monument. It preserves important collections from the Diocese of Girona, the Provincial Council and the art funds of the Government of Catalonia.

The museum focuses on Romanesque and Gothic art, including magnificent altarpieces from places such as Puigbo and Cruïlles, as well as Renaissance works attributed to Joan de Borgonya and Pere Mártir.

It also features 19th‑ and 20th‑century Catalan paintings and sculptures, including works by artists such as Miquel Blay, Santiago Rusiñol and Celso Lagar.

The palace itself dates back to the 10th century and preserves original spaces such as the clergy prison and a magnificent garden, which opens to the public on special occasions, offering a unique cultural and historical experience.
