Nanning Garden Expo Park

Nanning Garden Expo Park is the venue of the 12th China International Garden Expo, a national AAAA‑level tourist attraction. Located on the Dingshi Mountain area along the Bachijiang River in Yongning District, it covers 276 hectares and is the first international garden expo park built in an ethnic minority region, jointly constructed by ASEAN countries and cities along the "Belt and Road". It blends pristine landscapes with garden art, bringing together the essence of Chinese and international gardens, combining natural beauty with cultural heritage. 1. Park Attraction Areas

The park adopts the layout concept of "mountains and waters intertwined, gardens coexisting in harmony", featuring six major themed exhibition zones: China Cities Garden, ASEAN Garden, Silk Road Garden, Guangxi Garden, Designers' Garden, and Enterprise Garden, with a total of 80 exhibition gardens, along with several distinctive attractions that offer both scenic views and immersive experiences. In the core area, the China Cities Garden showcases the essence of gardens from Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, and other cities — each garden with its own character, displaying the charm of traditional Chinese garden art. The ASEAN Garden surrounds the China‑ASEAN Friendship Pavilion, recreating the garden styles of ten countries including the Philippines, Thailand, and Laos, offering a glimpse of Southeast Asian flair in a compact space.

The Guangxi Garden, themed "Eight Gui Heavenly Realm", incorporates elements such as the Zhuang bronze drums and Huashan rock art, recreating Guangxi's natural framework of "mountains, waters, forests, fields, and lakes". The Silk Road Garden showcases the garden features of cities along the "Belt and Road", connecting Chinese and foreign cultures. In addition, distinctive attractions such as the Podocarpus Garden, the Reed‑covered Terraced Ponds, and the Quarry Garden are particularly noteworthy. The Podocarpus Garden is the world's first specialised botanical garden centred on Guangxi's native podocarpus species, while the Reed‑covered Terraced Ponds apply the sponge city concept to present ever‑changing wetland scenery across the four seasons.

The core highlight of Nanning Garden Expo Park lies in its unique fusion of "ecology + culture + diversity".

Its ecological foundation is rich, featuring 18 hills, pristine mountain forests, clear springs, and wetlands, with over 1,600 plant species. In 2024, it was recognised as a "Nature Education Base" under Guangxi's forest tourism brand series. Walking through the park feels like being in a natural oxygen bar.

Its cultural depth is abundant, bringing together the essence of Chinese and international gardens. It serves as a bridge for cultural exchange between China and ASEAN, while also showcasing the ethnic culture of the Eight Gui region and garden art from across the country.

2. Transport to the Park

The park enjoys a convenient location with diverse transport options to suit different travel needs. For public transport, take MTR Line 2 to Jinxiang Station Exit A, or MTR Line 3 to Wuxiang Lake Station Exit A/B, then transfer to BRT Route B02 to reach the park directly. On weekends and public holidays, you can take Tourist Bus Route 2, or Bus Route 703 and get off at the "Garden Expo Park Station".

For self‑driving, simply navigate to "Nanning Garden Expo Park East Gate". There is a car park near the East Gate with free parking for the first 30 minutes, reasonable charges, and ample spaces. By taxi or ride‑hailing service from the city centre, the journey takes about 30 minutes at an affordable cost, and is even more convenient when travelling in a group. Please note that visitors must enter through the East Gate; the South Gate and North Gate are currently not open.

3. Nearby Attractions

The surrounding area features a scattering of attractions that can be planned as a combined itinerary to enrich your trip. The neighbouring Dingshi Mountain Site Museum houses cultural relics from the Neolithic Age, where visitors can trace the origins of the ancient Luoyue culture. The Bachijiang Riverside Walkway is open free of charge, ideal for a leisurely stroll after your visit to enjoy the river views and sunset, soaking in a tranquil time.

Pumiao Ancient Town, a 15‑minute drive from the park, is steeped in rustic local charm, where you can savour authentic local specialities such as freshly made fermented rice noodles. In addition, Wuxiang Lake Park and Nanning Museum are not far away, offering a sense of the city's ecological beauty and cultural heritage to add more depth to your trip.
