Chengdu Giant Panda and Dujiangyan One-Day Historical & Cultural Tour

The first stop in the morning is the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, the world's largest ex‑situ conservation and scientific breeding centre for giant pandas, covering approximately 3.07 square kilometres. It simulates the wild ecological environment of giant pandas, with lush bamboo groves and murmuring streams, earning it the reputation of "the natural paradise of national treasures." It is recommended to arrive at the base at 8am, when the pandas are most active. You can see them munching on bamboo shoots, climbing trees, and rolling around playfully, showcasing their cuteness up close in the "panda villas." Apart from giant pandas, the base also houses adorable red pandas, black‑necked cranes, and other rare animals. It is recommended to enter through the Qinyan Tower entrance and explore from top to bottom for a more leisurely experience: first, climb Qinyan Tower to get a panoramic view of the surging Minjiang River and the entire water conservancy project, then pay a visit to the Erwang Temple to honour the achievements of Li Bing and his son that have benefited generations. Walk across the ancient and swaying Anlan Suspension Bridge to reach the core project area: the Yuzui (Fish Mouth) Dividing Dam splits the Minjiang River into inner and outer channels, achieving a "40‑60 water diversion"; the Feishayan (Flying Sand Weir) uses vortex principles to discharge sand and floodwater; the Baopingkou (Bottle‑Neck Channel) precisely controls the water flow. These three structures work in harmony with nature, embodying the ancient wisdom of "deeply dredge the riverbed and build low weirs." Stroll through Fulonguan and Lidui Park, touching the thousand‑year‑old stone carvings and ancient architecture, and feel the profound heritage of this living cultural relic.
