In 1734, Pope Clementine XII decided to open a significant collection of artworks and ancient sculptures to the citizens of Rome permanently. This generous act led to the birth of the world's first museum, located on top of one of Rome's seven hills, overlooking the Roman Forum. Here, a wealth of history and culture is gathered.
