This private walking tour of Lausanne takes you through this lakeside city, allowing you to wander freely among historical landmarks and modern architecture, and deeply experience the unique charm of Lausanne's blend of old and new, nestled in the embrace of the Savoy Alps, at your own pace to understand the city's past and present.

The tour begins with a climb up the Marché stairs. This staircase is not only a passage connecting the upper and lower areas of the city, but also an excellent vantage point to take in panoramic views of Lausanne. As you ascend step by step, the scenery gradually opens up. Upon reaching the cathedral terrace at the top, you can enjoy a sweeping view of the entire city. The majestic outline of the Savoy Alps in the distance, the crystal‑clear shimmer of Lake Geneva, and the red‑tiled rooftops of the old town complement each other beautifully, creating a breathtaking sight that is truly unforgettable. Standing on the terrace, you can feel the solemnity of the historical architecture while taking in the stunning beauty of nature and the city in perfect harmony.

Next, you will arrive at the historic Bourg street, home to Lausanne's ancient soul. The cobblestone streets wind and extend, flanked by well‑preserved medieval buildings standing quietly. Each building bears the traces of time, and every alley holds stories of the city's past. Strolling through here feels like travelling back in time, allowing you to clearly trace the city's historical threads and feel its profound cultural heritage, all while savouring the unique charm of the old town in its quaint atmosphere.

Leaving the old street behind, you step into the modern Flon district, a microcosm of Lausanne's progression towards modernity. With its neat and spacious streets, architecturally striking modern buildings, stylish commercial spaces, and cultural venues lining the area, it offers a stark contrast to the old town's quaintness. The district serves business, leisure, and arts functions, brimming with vitality and a contemporary vibe. It perfectly showcases Lausanne's urban development as it moves forward while preserving its history, giving you a genuine experience of the unique atmosphere where history and modernity coexist harmoniously.
