Hōkan‑ji is a temple of the Rinzai sect Kennin‑ji school located in Higashiyama‑ku, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture, Japan. Its mountain name is "Reiōzan". The principal image is Gochi Nyorai (Five Wisdom Tathāgatas), and its legendary founder is Prince Shōtoku. The five‑storey pagoda is commonly known as the "Pagoda of Yasaka" and is a symbol of the Higashiyama area.


Nara Park is located at the foot of Mount Wakakusa. It is a vast area where lively and friendly deer can be seen everywhere. The natural environment here is excellent, with temples built amidst unspoiled forests, and turtles and carp swimming freely in the pond.
