Tour Highlights
The ropeway route on Mount Hiei, which is 848 metres high, consists of two sections.
The first section is a step‑type funicular line with a height difference of 561 metres.
The second section is an aerial ropeway, where passengers can overlook the scenery of Kyoto from inside the cable car. The route features a skywalk, allowing visitors to enjoy different landscapes. In spring, visitors can admire cherry blossoms, and in autumn, the vibrant autumn leaves.
Upon reaching the summit, you can also take a shuttle bus to visit the World Heritage site — Enryaku‑ji Temple.

With just one ticket, you can seamlessly explore the nature and culture of Kyoto's Rakuhoku area and Mount Hiei, experiencing a unique journey combining trains and ropeways.

With this ticket, you can take round trips on the Eizan Electric Railway, the funicular, and the aerial ropeway without needing to exchange tickets separately. The electric train extends from Kyoto city centre into the mountains, while the funicular and aerial ropeway handle the uphill sections. It only takes 12 minutes to travel from the foot of the mountain to the summit of Mount Hiei, ensuring a smooth journey throughout.

As the train travels through green tunnels and past ancient temples, the maple tunnel between Ichihara Station and Ninose Station offers distinct charms in every season. During the ascent of the funicular and aerial ropeway, you can overlook Kyoto's cityscape, mountains, and countryside. On clear days, you can enjoy expansive views — the journey itself becomes a scenic experience.

The vehicles feature a unified design, with some sightseeing trains equipped with large panoramic windows and comfortable seats, specially designed for enjoying the views. The round‑trip ticket saves you the hassle of buying tickets for each leg, making it easy to plan visits to attractions along the route such as Kifune Shrine, Shōren‑in Temple, and Enryaku‑ji Temple, allowing you to fully enjoy the freedom of exploring from the city to the mountains.
