Located at the highest point of the Northern Cross‑Island Highway in Datong Township, Yilan, Mingchih Forest Recreation Area sits at an elevation of 1,150 to 1,700 metres. Shrouded in mist all year round, it is known as the "Pearl of the Northern Cross‑Island Highway" and is a classic summer resort in northern Taiwan. The centrepiece of the park is an alpine lake, surrounded by specially designed gardens such as Ciyuan Garden, Jingshi Garden, and Fern Garden. The Fairy Tale Forest Maze incorporates the story of Snow White, adding a touch of fun. From Cixiao Pavilion, perched high above, you can take in a panoramic view of Mingchih. Admission is NT$100 on weekdays and NT$120 on holidays for adults. Students, military personnel, civil servants, and teachers are eligible for concession tickets starting from NT$60.
