Tainan Hilltop Garden Water Museum, located in the national historical site in Shanshang District, was transformed from a century‑old water purification plant built during the Japanese colonial period. Since opening in 2019, it has become a popular tourist destination in Tainan. The park is divided into a paid museum area and a free water purification area. Tickets are NT$100 for full‑price admission, with half‑price discounts for students and seniors aged 65 and above. Tainan residents enjoy preferential rates, and online ticket purchases come with discounts.
The core highlights include the 14 giant water filtration tanks in Hall B's rapid filter room, featuring an industrial‑style architecture paired with red brick walls—a favourite spot for social media check‑ins. The park is also dotted with installation artworks relocated from the Yuguang Island Art Festival, blending beautifully with the green lawns and succulent gardens. Families can enjoy the splash pool to cool off, while history enthusiasts can learn about the history of Taiwan's water infrastructure planned by Yasujiro Hamano through interactive light and shadow installations, and explore century‑old water pump motors and artifacts.
In the nearby water purification area, climbing the stairs reveals a historic blue gate, and during spring, the cherry blossoms create a stunning landscape. The park also features a water‑themed café and a souvenir shop. It can be combined with visits to Xinhua and Zuozhen attractions, making it a Tainan deep‑travel experience that balances leisure, education, and photography.

The Water Museum uses interactive light and shadow installations on walls to guide visitors through the history of the water channel.

A brand‑new photo‑worthy landmark! Head to this hidden gem on the hill, perfect for a family outing for all ages.

The installation art piece at the entrance, named "Call of Happiness," brings boundless hope and harmony.

The water purification area features low walls and bunkers built with grey‑white bricks, offering a serene and beautiful atmosphere.
