Product Details

As the roar of steam travels through a century of time, Train World Brussels becomes the ultimate pilgrimage site for railway enthusiasts. Housed in the historic Schaerbeek old station, this museum has been guarding the precious memories of European railways since its opening in 2015, with a vast exhibition area of 8,000 sqm.

Upon entering, the intertwining aura of history and modernity greets you—the ancient arcades of the station engage in a fascinating dialogue with gleaming locomotives, while the museum's crown jewel, "Pays de Waes," leaves visitors in awe. As the oldest surviving locomotive on the European continent, its steel body bears the marks of time, as if still carrying the lingering warmth of its days speeding along the rails. Touching its solid shell feels like holding a silent conversation with the railway pioneers of the 19th century.

Worried about missing key highlights during your visit? The free Train World App is your personal guide. From the development stories of locomotives to the evolution of railway technology, detailed explanations bring every exhibit to life. Whether you are a family with children or a seasoned railway enthusiast, the app helps you uncover the legends behind each locomotive.

Strolling through the exhibition area, locomotives from different eras stand in formation, from the rugged grandeur of steam engines to the sleek elegance of modern trains, clearly illustrating the evolutionary trajectory of railway transport. Occasionally, you may see staff members dressed in vintage uniforms giving demonstrations, and the crisp sound of the whistle instantly transports you back to the golden age of steam.

When you need a break, head to the on‑site Filou'Sophe restaurant. Enjoy authentic cuisine in an atmosphere steeped in history, where the flavours on your palate perfectly blend with the tales of the railways. The opening hours are very accommodating: Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 17:00, with last entry at 15:30. Please note that the museum is closed on Mondays, as well as on 1 January and 25 December.

Come to Train World Brussels and let the steel giants take you on a journey through a century. Along the extension of the tracks, uncover the past and future of European railways, and leave with a memory filled with thundering roars and passion.
